Philippians 1:3-5. (CSB) I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you, always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
Any trip takes significant financial investment. There are many donors who make these trips possible. We should take time to say "thanks" to all those who have made a contribution to our mission experience. Paul recognized that ministry was never a solo effort. The believers in Philippi partnered with him through their prayers, encouragement, and financial support. Because of their generosity, the gospel continued to spread. We should take time to say "thanks" to all those who have made a contribution to our mission experience.
Take time to personally thank every church and individual who supported your trip. A handwritten note, email, phone call, or personal visit can communicate sincere appreciation.
Share a story about how God worked during the trip. Let them know that their investment made a difference in the lives of others.
Make sure you tell your sponsoring group (university, church, social club, student ministry) of the impact of your trip.
Ask your home church to let you share your mission experience. Also ask your student organizations or work-place chaplains for an opportunity to share your experience with your peers. The church will be greatly encouraged by your willingness to serve others. Your peers will be interested in your challenging personal experience--and how it inspired you to life-transformation.
When you express your gratitude, you remind your supporters that they were partners in the ministry, not just sponsors. Many of your supporters may never get to take this type of trip. But they will be eternally grateful to know that their giving changed your life and the lives of those you served on your trip.
Remember, your mission experience was not accomplished alone. It was the result of a community of believers joining together for the sake of the gospel. Your supporters will be encouraged to know that their generosity produced eternal fruit, and your words of appreciation will strengthen the bonds that make future ministry possible.
